Technique Tuesday: Tapping

Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), is a powerful tool for mental and emotional well-being. Rooted in both modern psychology and ancient Chinese acupressure, tapping combines physical touch with verbal affirmations to create a holistic approach to healing. This Technique Tuesday, let's dive into the world of tapping, exploring its benefits, how to get started, and ways you can use it today.

The Benefits of Tapping:

Stress Relief: Tapping helps reduce cortisol levels, the body's primary stress hormone, leading to a calmer mind and relaxed body.

Emotional Healing: Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, or unresolved trauma, tapping can help you process and release negative emotions, making space for positivity and peace.

Physical Wellness: Because tapping influences the body's energy meridians, it can also alleviate physical pain, improve sleep, and boost your overall sense of well-being.

Increased Clarity: Tapping can help clear mental blocks, leading to enhanced focus and decision-making.

Where and How to Tap:

Tapping involves gently tapping on specific acupressure points while repeating your setup statement. Here’s where and how long to tap on each point:

  1. Side of the Hand (Karate Chop Point): Tap with four fingers on the side of your hand, just below the pinky. Tap for about 10-15 seconds.
  2. Top of the Head: Tap in a circular motion on the crown of your head. Tap for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Eyebrow: Tap on the inner edge of the eyebrow, near the bridge of your nose. Use two fingers and tap for 5-7 seconds.
  4. Side of the Eye: Tap on the bone at the outer corner of your eye. Tap for 5-7 seconds.
  5. Under the Eye: Tap under the eye, directly on the bone. Tap for 5-7 seconds.
  6. Under the Nose: Tap on the area between your nose and upper lip. Tap for 5-7 seconds.
  7. Chin: Tap on the crease between your lower lip and chin. Tap for 5-7 seconds.
  8. Collarbone: Tap on the area where your collarbone meets your breastbone. Use four fingers and tap for 10-15 seconds.
  9. Under the Arm: Tap about four inches below your armpit, roughly at bra strap level. Tap for 5-7 seconds.

Incorporating tapping into your daily routine is a great way to maintain balance and prevent stress from building up.
